Get an exclusive glimpse at one of the most anticipated surf films of the year by Blake Kueny, starring John John Florence.
One of the most anticipated surf films of the year View From a Blue Moon, shot by Blake Kueny, features the Hawaiian phenom John John Florence (HAW) and several other Championship Tour (CT) standouts like Filipe Toledo (BRA). The film will be available to the public December 1, but will premiere at several locations worldwide November 11.
Outside of his latest video project, Florence has been riding ups and downs on the CT. In May, he injured his ankle while on a surf trip in South America, and missed two contests during recovery. In his first event back, Florence faced reigning World Champion Gabriel Medina (BRA) in Round 3 of the Billabong Pro Tahiti, in what many are already calling a nomination for the 2015 Heat of the Year.
In Round 3, Heat 5 of the Billabong Pro Tahiti, Florence and Medina together earned six scores that were nine points or more.
Though Florence lost to Medina, his 18.84 heat total is nothing to scoff at, something he discussed in an exclusive WSL interview before the European leg of the 2015 season.
But for the man who's known to the push the limits in competition (see video below), results have eluded him this season, with only three appearances past the third round to date.
John John Florence completed a rodeo at the Oi Rio Pro to jump-start the day's competition.
At No. 15 on the Jeep Leaderboard, Florence is all but assured to requalify for the 2016 elite Tour. However, he has one shot left to put the talent showcased in his latest film on display for the world. This time, it will be in his backyard on the North Shore.
Don't miss Florence and the rest of the Top 34 at the Billabong Pipe Masters, the final stop of the 2015 season. Watch live on the World Surf League website beginning December 8 and watch the full trailer here.
